Backstory
Mitchell Case was a bright child who skated through school. His parents had a very comfortable income, so he and his sister were able to take part in all sorts of extracurricular activities. He has always been physically active, and he played soccer most of his school years. He has traveled extensively and read everything he could get his hands on.
After he graduated from medical school, he didn't take the first job to come along, wanting something with a little more challenge and preferably something away from his usual stomping grounds. He hoped to explore the universe while he was still young, and before his mother entered him into the endless search for a wife. He traveled to Earth for a residency in Eastern medicine, studying for a year in Tibet. Very taken with the idea of natural and alternative healing, he worked with a young healer named Anala. The two became engaged, soulmates who were very much in love. She was killed in a traffic accident on the way to her shift at the hospital. Though a year has passed, Case still feels her loss deeply.
Wanting to get as far away from Earth as he could, he came across an advertisement for a doctor at a station out toward the Rim, an ad that promised adventure, the chance to practice xenobiology, and provide usual opportunity for personal growth. Without telling his parents, he responded to the ad, and Dr. Eugene Boring hired him immediately. Before he could hardly pack his bags, Case was on his way to MU. He thought he was just going to be a doctor on staff, as Boring had not told him it was the CMO position that was available. But he's tried to hold his own, despite the drama that is sickbay doctoring.
Since arriving at the station, Case has been a patient in his own sickbay twice, including once after an accident involving IG-76 when he was nearly cut in half by the droid.
