Backstory
Brecht knew he no longer wanted the dull country existence he'd had at home in Plaxton, though being of upper class background, he lived by a certain standard and code. His mother had begun making noises about finding him a wife. His father urged him to join the family business, as his brother Charles had done already. The life of a gentleman farmer didn't appeal to him, though he rather enjoyed watching the exotic animals his family raised to sell to hunting compounds.
Brecht went to school for some time, but found no subject that fascinated him. The sciences would have been the closest choice, but once his father discovered that Brecht had dropped out of his business courses his father required, the plug was pulled and Brecht got cut off financially. Shortly after that, he left home and drifted around the sector awhile, finally settling in at MU.
Security was the only entity hiring when he came on, and so he became an ensign, the lowest rank available. TPTB insisted he have two names, a first and a last, so though he'd never had a first name before, he chose "Guy" as it seemed non offensive and descriptive at the same time.
His first few weeks weren't easy. His somewhat "prissy" ways met with ridicule from officer Nathaniel Covington and he nearly gave up. His friendship with Dr. Mairead Lennox and the respect of the head of security IG-76 pulled him through, however, and he gradually found his place and moved up through the ranks to Lieutenant.
Guy has become friends with others such as Dr. Mitchell Case and is well-liked by most of the patrons of the station. He's got a reputation in the nether regions of the station known as Down Below or Dogsville of being tough on crime and criminals.
On one such excursion to clean up the drug-infested sections and chase down an animal that attacked the son of Sarah Morrigan and Kyp Jarek, Guy came across a Vulcan lematya, a large wild cat. This animal was obviously half-grown and when he brought it up to security to ask IG-76 what to do with it, he was ordered to keep it. So Cat now accompanies him on his rounds, empathically bonded to him.
He and Dr. Mairead Lennox were briefly pre-engaged, but as the dark side of his job began to wear on him, she broke off the relationship, disappointed that he could be as unfeeling and dirty a cop as some of the others in the department.
