Backstory

Judge Phillip Louvois is the Ombudsman for Maquis Universal. Phillip is the son of two of New Samarkand's most well-known judges, Catherine and Francois Louvois who's ground-breaking ruling in 2379 granted photonic lifeforms the same rights and freedoms afforded to "solid" lifeforms. Phillip began law school in 2377 and graduated in 2385 fifth in his class. He was sought after by many law firms throughout the Federation but he remained on Alpha Centauri to practice law on that world. In 2388 he met and married Kayden Matthews, a Starfleet JAG officer at Starbase 2. In 2389, be began work for the law firm of Cogley & Shaw where he specialized in criminal law. The couple had two twin boys in 2399, Robert and Rene. 2401, he was appointed to the bench of New Samarkand's judiciary. Unfortunatly, things were not going well between him and his wife, Kayden. The couple divorced in 2412. Recently, in 2415, with the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Federation and Maquis Universal, Phillip was asked to become the Ombudsman for MU and he accepted the position.

Interacting With MU

Now on MU, Phillip feels like he's gotten a chance at a second life and has made the most of it. He is friendly, associating well with MU staff and residents alike. However, he takes a dim view towards some of the overhanded tactics of MU security and there has been some degree of tension there. He maintains contact with his boys and he promises that he will have them come to the station someday. His relationship with MU Public Defender Alessandro De Angeli can be best described as tense, but respectful. The two have often debated certain aspects of the law in Yuna Braska's Lounge.
