The United Empire of Planets was created by an aggressive Terran Empire through the conquering of numerous systems. The central authority of the Empire saw to it that people were ruled by fear and violence. Over the years, the Empire's power grew to enormous heights, covering most of Alpha and Beta Quadrants.
The Empire's downfall came after a group of freedom fighters banded together to undermine the grip of fear it held over its citizens.
Meta
The UEP universe is based loosely on the Star Trek Mirror Universe, possibly from a series of non-canon books detailing further excursions into that timeline.
OOC
Most original players of the UEP are no longer in contact with the players of MU, thus we can not provide a true and proper history of the Empire.
