Timeline of the United Empire of Planets
- Note: This timeline of UEP history is mostly conjectural based on information in the Trek novel Dark Mirror, written by Diane Duane. It is believed that this novel was the inspiration for the creation of the UEP. Additional information is taken from messeneger conversations with former UEP players. Players are encouraged to add to this timeline or make any correctional changes.

20th. Century
1960's to 1990's CE
- The rise of several genetically engineered "supermen" - later called Augments - occurs at this time. They are led by Augment Khan Noonian Singh.
1990's to 2000's CE
- Khan Noonian Singh and his Augements, conquer the Earth and establish several empires spread over several continents.
21st. Century
2000's to 2060's CE
- International warfare breaks out between rival factions of Augments. Nuclear weapons are used in this conflict, decimating Earth's populations. Rule by the Augments collapses and the surviving nations assume control once again.
- The surviving nations from the Eugenics Wars slowly consolidate their empires and create the Earth Empire. Earth slowly begins to recover the nuclear holocaust.
- Space travel begins again, utilizing sublight craft adapted from the DY-100 design.
- Mars is colonized and terraformed. Millions of humans immigrate (most not by choice) to Mars.
2063 CE
- Zefram Cochrane develops the first warp drive engines for the Earth Empire.
- All sublight craft used by the Earth Empire retrofit their spacecraft to warp drive.
2067 to 2089 CE
- The Earth Empire conquer the Alpha Centauri system. The native population is destroyed by Earth warships.
22nd. Century
2090 to 2155 CE
- The Earth Empire expands their extra-solar territory, conquering many worlds and where those worlds had civilizations that posed a challenge to the Empire, are ruthlessly destroyed and the populations are made into slaves.
- One of the worlds contacted at this time are the Vulcans. Discovered before they had warred one another into oblivion, the Empire saw them as 'kindred spirits' and absorbed them into their rule.
2156 to 2160 CE
- War between the Earth Empire and Romulan Empire break out. At first, the war goes well for the Romulans but Earth eventually gains the upperhand.
- The Battle of Cheron results in victory for the Earth Empire.
- Two weeks later, Earth's forces reach the Romulan homeworlds. Remus is obliterated by the Earth Empire's forces and the Romulans are given a choice: become a subject world or be destroyed. The entire Romulan population of Romulus commit mass suicide.
2161 CE
- The Earth Empire is reformed into the United Empire of Planets.
23rd. Century
2162 to 2260's CE
- The UEP expands across the Alpha Quadrant, conquering system after system.
- At this time, the only serious challenger to the UEP's power is the Klingon empire. Allthough the UEP and the Klingons are bitter rivals, neither power has the ability to conquer the other and a 'cold war' begins between the two nations.
2260's to 2290's CE
- An away team from the ISS Enterprise is replaced with trans-dimentional duplicates from a mirror universe. The Mirror-universe Kirk pursuades Commander Spock to reform the Empire onto a more 'logical' path.
- Spock kills Captain Kirk and assumes command of the Enterprise. Over the next thirty years, he rises in power to eventually become the leader of the UEP's Starfleet.
- Spock is assassinated in the 2290's before his reforms could be implemented.
2293 to 2340 CE
- The Klingon Empire experiences a crippling blow when their moon Praxis explodes and decimates Qo'noS. The UEP seizes this opportunity and invades the Klingon Empire. The Klingons are conquered and surrender to the UEP.
24th. Century
2340's to 2375 CE
- Komtok becomes Emperor of the UEP. He and the Warmistress Saran of Vulcan would rule the empire together.
2375 CE
- The Maquis Rebellion occurs. The Maquis Universal flee the UEP by passing into an interplexing interdimentional rift.
- Unbeknownst to Komtok, the Empress Saran, had assisted in the initial rebellion and the escape of their adopted daughter and those of the initial rebellion.
2380 to 2390 CE
- The Maquis Universal's successful uprising against Emperor Komtok inspire many of the UEP's subject worlds to rebel against his rule.
2390 to 2395 CE
- Emperor Komtok attempts to suppress the uprisings in UEP space.
25th. Century
2395 to 2400 CE
- Emperor Komtok is deposed from power and the UEP quickly shatters into rival states.
2400 to 2410 CE
- A new brutal tyrant, known only as the Usurper, begins waging a campaign of conquest across former UEP space, reclaming lost sectors and worlds and declares himself as the new Emperor of a restored United Empire of Planets.
2410 to 2415 CE (Current Day)
- On several worlds located on the fringes of UEP space, still free from the control of the Usurper, a new group, calling themselves the Neo-Maquis, in honor of the original Maquis rebels, have banded together and have begun marshalling their resources and building their strength in order to strike back at the encroaching forces of oppression. These freedom fighters have obtained knowledge of a secret project under the direct control of the Usurper, that could spell the end of freedom - not just for their own worlds, but for the entire galaxy...
