History

USS Sulaco investigating a red giant star.

The Sulaco was launched from the Arcturus Shipyards at Arcturus-4 in the year 2375. She is the second starship to bear the name. (The original was a Excelsior class starship launched in 2310.) Sulaco has served with distinction on a variety of exploration missions and missions in the defence of the United Federation of Planets. Recently, after a major refit of her systems in 2414, Starfleet engineers added the quantum slipstream drive to her FTL systems and the Sulaco has been assigned to deep range exploration of the Delta Quadrant of the galaxy.

How the ship got its name

The Sulaco is named after the mining town of Sulaco, a fictitious port in Joseph Conrad's classic novel Nostromo.
